Doris Smith

Doris C. Smith, 91, of Locust Run, passed away at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Ohesson Manor, Lewistown. Born on February 10, 1928, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late John and Blanche (Oren) McClure. On August 1, 1947 she married her late husband, Lawrence O. “Jim” Smith with whom she was blessed to share more than 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 11, 1998. Surviving are a daughter, Connie Smith, a granddaughter, Mindy Markley both of Lewistown and 3 great-grandchildren, Kylie Crutchfield, Colton Markley and Lillie Markley. A grandson, Shawn Willow, and her only sister Mary Fogleman preceded her in death. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin, a home maker, and at one time was very active with the Area Agency on Aging-Peppy Class and the many activities held there. Doris loved traveling, baking pies, gardening, canning and doing aerobics. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from the Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin with the Pastor Dan Kerlin officiating. Interment will be private in the Locust Run Cemetery, Locust Run. A viewing will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
