MIFFLIN, Mary J. Crimmel, 89, of Mifflin died at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at her home. Born on October 8, 1923, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Elsie C. (Brannon) Wertz. On December 4, 1945, she married her husband Blair D. “Nub” Crimmel, with whom she shared more than 51 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on March 25, 1996. Surviving are her children: B. David Crimmel, II and his wife Paula, of Mifflintown, Mary Catherine “Sue” Nace and her husband Paul, of Mifflin, a brother, Ronald W. Wertz, of Pittsburgh, and she leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a great-great- grandson. One Son, Robert W. Crimmel and a sister Joyce Leiter preceded her in death. She was a 1941 graduate of Lewistown High School and a 1945 graduate John Hopkins School of Nursing. In 1985 she retired as a Registered Nurse from Lewistown Hospital with 31 years of service. Mrs. Crimmel was a member of the Trinity United Methodist, Mifflin where she had taught Sunday school, served as a Trustee and also served on the Alter Guild. Mary enjoyed traveling, golfing, reading and her great passion was playing pinochle. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, from the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, with Pastor Gay Irwin officiating. There will be no viewing. The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial contributions in Mrs. Crimmel’s memory may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O.
