Palmer Dressler Obituary

Palmer L. Dressler, 90, of Thompsontown, passed away at 3:52 AM on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown. Born on August 21, 1928 in Delaware Twp., Juniata County, he is a son of the late Gerald and Minnie (Fry) Dressler. On October 8, 1949, he married his surviving wife, Evelyn L. (Brubaker) Dressler with whom he was blessed to share over 69 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Brenda M. Gaupp of Harrisburg and Sheila E. Becker and her husband Jeffrey of Lakeville; one sister, Patsy Howell of Mount Pleasant Mills; one brother, Tom Dressler of Port Trevorton; five granddaughters; and twelve great-grandchildren In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Dressler. Mr. Dressler was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mifflintown. Palmer began his working career at A Gladiolus Farms in Liverpool where he became the manager. Next, he worked and retired as an Installer of aluminum siding, replacement windows and replacement doors. As a fantastic woodworker, many family heirlooms were created with his hands. He also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and in earlier life enjoyed fishing and hunting. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 8, 2019 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Pastor Caleb Hanna officiating. Interment will follow at the East Salem Cemetery. There will be no public viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Dressler’s memory can be made to the First Baptist Church of Mifflintown, 23964 Route 35 North, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
