Born on February 18, 1942 in Port Royal, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Raymond W. and Evelyn B. (Bassler) Jacobs. On October 22, 1960, he married his surviving wife, Dorothy I. (Hepner) Jacobs, with whom he shared nearly 53 years of marriage. Surviving are his children, David C. Jacobs and his wife Tina, of Thompsontown, Randy E. Jacobs and his wife Melissa, of McAlisterville, Scott W. Jacobs and his wife Carrie, of Mexico, four grandchildren, Amanda Jacobs, Krysta Jacobs, Megan Jacobs, Austin Jacobs, and he leaves behind two great grandsons, Landon and Jordan Jacobs. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, making him the last of his generation. Raymond was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, Port Royal. In earlier life, Raymond worked at Rae Sel for twenty-two years and during that time he worked part time for the Mifflintown Pharmacy. After which, he served as a custodian and courier for the First National Bank of Mifflintown until his retirement. “Tom” enjoyed woodworking, racing, country music and attending auctions, but his true gift was being a “people person” and talking to people, wherever he went. His dog “Snoop” was his constant companion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, October 4, 2013 from Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with Rev. Kenneth Kitzmiller, officiating. Interment will follow in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. Viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Jacobs’ memory to the Port Royal United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 396, Port Royal, PA 17082 or to the Gideon’s International, Juniata County Camp No. 37147, P.O. Box 91, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
