Helen M. Gettig, 65, of Julian, died, Monday, August 3, 2020, at her residence on Dix Run Road, Julian. She was born September 16, 1954, in Bellefonte, PA a daughter of Charles F. and Elaine June (Lucas) Gettig. Helen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, State College Ward. She worked for the former Corning Glass Works, State College. She was an accountant at heart and an expert in federal and state tax regulations and laws. When you walked into a room, Helen would greet you with her beautiful big smile and lovely brown eyes. She was kind, generous, and very appreciative. She loved sharing stories about her grandparents and family who lived along old 220 toward Howard, PA. She adored her nephew Lucas, and assisted with concessions for the local little league. Her cats brought much joy to her life. In elementary school, Helen met her life-long friend Shirley Flick Snyder. They helped each other though difficult and glorious times. As a young adult, Shirley lived near Helen for a short while, and in later years, when Helen’s health was declining, she moved in with Shirley who became her caregiver and nurse. Helen was loved by the Flick family. Surviving are three sisters: Gwendolyn (Albert) Carusone, Marsha (Mike) Fannin, and Bobbi J. Hill all of Howard, one nephew Lucas Charles Hill, and numerous nieces. A memorial service will be held at Stoney Brook Farm, 1174 Dix Run Road, Julian, PA on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Dean K.
