Bessie Catherine Stuart, 91, of New Castle passed the morning of October 29, 2019 at UPMC Jameson.

Born on December 14, 1927 in Elm Grove, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late William and Edna Criswell Wischerman.

In the early years Bessie had worked as a cook at the Lawrence County Home. She then worked as a at Poland’s Supper Club.

Bessie enjoyed playing Bingo, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Bessie is survived by her children, Stella M. Matthews (Bruce) of FL, Bette J. Black (Clifford), of Fredonia, Pa., Albert E. Zak, Jr. of Ellwood City, Monica L. Alexander of Pulaski, Pa., Lillie J. Zak, of FL, Mary C. Pelton (Walter) of GA, her sister, Georgetta Presnar of Hermitage, Pa., fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Zak, her second husband, Ellsworth Stuart, three brothers, Robert, William, and Henry Wischerman, three sisters, Bertha Gorgacz, Thelma Jane Gurgacz and Joann Isabella.

Honoring her wishes there is no visitation or service.

Interment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.
