Anna Marie Califato

Anna Marie Califato, 101, of Union Township, passed away the evening of August 7, 2017 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born on January 30, 1916 in Kaylor, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Esposito Timpolio. On October 2, 1935, she married her beloved husband, Fred Califato, and the two of them spent over 39 years together until he preceded her in death on February 2, 1975.

Anna retired from the housekeeping department for St. Francis School of Nursing in 1975 after 16 years of working. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Anna was a diehard Pittsburgh Pirates fan. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family.

Anna is survived by her children, Mary Ann Klenotic of New Castle and Gloria Califato of Polson, MT; sister, Rose Hardisky of New Wilmington, PA; grandchildren, Cathy Laughlin of New Castle, Marcie Klenotic of New Castle, Denise Heckler of Canton, OH, Fred Califato of New Castle, Anna Marie Marshall of Henderson, NV, Ryan Johnson of Auke Bay, AK, Janet Antonio of New Castle, Nichole Lombardo of Bessemer, PA, and Nick Pietrandrea of Woodbridge, VA; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Nick F. Califato; daughter, Janet Bird; sisters, Lena Staph, Mary Staph, Grace Timpolio, Josephine Galmarini, and Virginia Musone; brother, Frank Timpolio; and great-grandchildren, Kayla Ann Nice and Christopher Carter.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Friday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father William Siple.

Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
