Josephine M. Lombardo, 89, of Mahoningtown, passed away the afternoon of June 28, 2017 at her residence. Born on February 7, 1928 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Mary Pagani Melozzi. On October 12, 1946, she married her beloved husband, Nick Lombardo, and the two of them spent 48 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on October 13, 1994.

Josephine was a member of St. Lucy Church. She often volunteered for the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies, and Girl Scouts. Josephine also belonged to the PTA and organized many shopping trips and other events. She was an avid baker and belonged to a girls card club for 40 years.

Josephine is survived by her children, Andrew Lombardo and wife Frances of Edinburg, PA, Nicholas Lombardo and wife Susan of Dime Box, TX, Lois Ann Gift of Anna Maria, FL, and Mary Jo Lombardo of New Castle; grandchildren, Lenny Lombardo and wife Rachael, Traci Rudley and husband James, Stephanie Gift, and Carly Lombardo; and great-granddaughters, Abigail, Alexis, Ariana, and Leah. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Priscella, son-in-law, Steven Gift, two brothers, and three sisters.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vincent De Paul Church in Mahoningtown.

Interment will take place in St. Lucy Cemetery.
