Lowell T. (Lodi) Swogger Obituary

Lowell T. (Lodi) Swogger, 83, of Union Township, passed away the morning of August 17, 2017 at Jameson Care Center. Born on May 29, 1934 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Francis Paul and Effie Stein Swogger. On September 1, 1956, he married his beloved wife, the former Anita L. Lowell had worked as a steelworker for Youngstown Sheet and Tube and later retired from LTV after working for 35 years. He later drove school buses for Union School District for more than 10 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. Lowell liked to fish, hunt, and garden, but his greatest joy came from going on family vacations, especially enjoying his visits to Sparrow Lake, Canada.

Lowell is survived by his children, Thomas Swogger and wife Cyndi of New Castle, William Swogger of Pittsburgh, and Steven Swogger and wife Michelle of New Castle; sister, Bernice Derekos of New Castle; grandchildren, Thomas Jr., Brandon, Benjamin, and Matthew; and great-grandchild, Daxton. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his infant son; brothers, Melvin, Paul, Vernon, and Malcom Swogger; and sister, Evelyn Swogger Carroll.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Blessing services will be conducted Saturday at 12:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Mr. Matthew Hawkins, St. Vincent de Paul Parish Seminarian.
