Nicholas A. Amabile

<p>Nicholas A. Amabile, Sr. passed away the morning of March 1, 2011 at his home following an extended illness.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in New Castle, Nicholas was the son of the late Anthony and Angelica Antonio Amabile. He was married to the former Kathleen Flannery for the past twenty five years. She survives.</p><p><br></p><p>Nicholas was a member of St. Vitus Church.</p><p><br></p><p>He was a graduate of Shenango High School. Nicholas was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during the Vietnam War working as a jet mechanic. He retired from Pennsylvania Rolling Mills. He was also a licensed barber and mechanic.</p><p><br></p><p>He was a member of the Slovak Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW Post No. 315 and the Castlewood Rod and Gun Club. Nicholas enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoors man. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his wife, Nicholas is survived by three children, Dianne Amabile Iorio and husband Jeff, Nicholas A. Amabile, Jr. and wife Christine, Shawn Amabile and wife Nicole, all of New Castle; two brothers, Orazio (Larry) Amabile of Peoria, Az; Anthony Amabile and partner Ben Kopec of New Castle; four sisters, Sister Elizabeth (Deloris) Amabile of Bronx, NY; Carolyn Smith of Fountain Inn, S.C; Patricia DeFelice and husband John of York, Pa; Angel Peluso and husband Tony of Dover, Pa; ten grandchildren, Jeffrey Iorio, Stevie Marie Iorio, Joseph Iorio, Rachel Iorio, Danielle Iorio, Ashley Amabile, Austin Amabile, Allyson Amabile, Devan Amabile, Christian Amabile and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Nicholas was preceded in death by his parents and a infant brother, Eugene Amabile.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation is Thursday from 4PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.</p><p><br></p><p>The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the funeral home at 12:15 PM on Friday. </p><p><br></p><p>A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday morning at 12:30 PM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1PM at St. Vitus Church. Rev. Father John Petrarulo, pastor of St. Vitus Church, will officiate.</p><p><br></p><p>Internment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.</p>
