<p>James N. Lavella, Jr., 91, of New Castle passed away the evening of June 9, 2019 at his daughter’s residence on what would have been his 68th wedding anniversary, surrounded by his loving family. </p><p><br></p><p>Born on February 13, 1928 in New Castle he was the son of the late James, Sr. and Eleanor Ross Lavella. </p><p><br></p><p>His beloved wife, the former Mary R. Hudak who he married on June 9, 1951 preceded him in death on December 17, 2017. </p><p><br></p><p>Jim had worked for Mesta Machine for over twenty years before he retired. </p><p><br></p><p>He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country as a Seaman Radioman aboard a torpedo bomber. </p><p><br></p><p>He was a devoted member of St. Vitus Church, Jim also belonged to The Holy Name Society of St. Vitus. </p><p><br></p><p>Jim is survived by his children, Jacqueline Babick of New Castle and James Lavella, III of Coconut Creek, FL. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Stanley “Sonny” Babick, his infant brother, Stanley Lavella, brother Stanley Lavella and two sisters, Rose Cotelesse and Marie Gryzlak. </p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be on Wednesday 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Ed &amp; Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Mil St.</p><p><br></p><p>A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vitus Church at 12:00 p.m. Father Victor Molka, Jr. will officiate. </p><p><br></p><p>Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Rites at the cemetery.</p>
