<p>Katherine (Snookie) Ludovici, 82, passed away the evening of June 4, 2019 at UPMC Jameson. </p><p><br></p><p>Katherine was born on July 6, 1936 and raised in New Castle a daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Zahranic Joseph. </p><p><br></p><p>She was a member of St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church. Known by most as Snookie, she had been active in her church preparing and serving mercy dinners. </p><p><br></p><p>She married Andrew Ludovici on December 8, 1956 and became a military serviceman’s wife. As military families frequently are required to change residence, together they lived and raised their children in many different cities throughout the country and the world. Upon retirement the family settled back in New Castle. Snookie loved her neighborhood and the many friends she made there. She was an active person and enjoyed shopping with her best friend, Jane Charles and sister, Michele Coy as well as her many cousins. She enjoyed cooking traditional Lebanese dishes and sharing these dishes with others. She enjoyed traveling to visit her daughter, Karen Benelli, of New Mexico and brother, the late Don Joseph and sister-in law Charlotte, of Virginia. She was an animal lover giving loving homes to many over the years. A loving wife, mother and friend, Snookie devoted much of her life to caring for others.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her son, Dante Ludovici, daughter, Karen Benelli (George Wenberg), grandchildren, Katharine Coggeshall, Dana Jones (Cale) and Marc Benelli. She will also be missed by great-grandchildren Emma, Michael, Adelilne Coggeshall; Liam and Avery Jones and Jacob, Aiden and Salvatore Benelli. She is also survived by her sister, Michele Coy (Denny) and nephew Jacob (Kate), niece, Kaysha Estvanek (Kyle). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Charlotte of Virginia, niece Joni, nephews, Jeffery and Donnie Michael and great nephews and nieces. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents and husband, Master Sergeant Andrew (Sonny) Ludovici, Katherine was preceded in death by her son, Michael Ludovici and her brother, Donald Joseph. </p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be on Friday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed &amp; Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Mill St. </p><p><br></p><p>A Service of Incense will be conducted on Friday at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. </p><p><br></p><p>A procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. to attend a funeral liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church, officiated by Father Claude Franklin. </p><p><br></p><p>Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery. </p>

Katherine (Snookie) Ludovici, 82, passed away the evening of June 4, 2019 at UPMC Jameson.


Katherine was born on July 6, 1936 and raised in New Castle a daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Zahranic Joseph.

Visitation will be on Friday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Mill St.
