Pastor Dion L. Holmes, 53, of New Castle passed away the evening of March 21, 2019 at UPMC Jameson.

Born in New Castle on July 30, 1965, Dion was the son of Samuel G, Sr. and Martha Christian Holmes. Both parents survive.

Dion attended Edinboro University of Pa and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Arts and Design. Dion retired from the Lawrence County Jail where he worked as Corrections Officer. He was the faithful pastor of the Christian Love Missionary Baptist Church and was also a member of St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church. Dion loved studying and reading the bible. He also enjoyed martial arts and was an avid artist.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two children, Dion C. Holmes and Erika Holmes, both of Washington, PA, four brothers, Rev. Samuel G. Holmes, Jr., Rev. James E. Holmes, Sr. and wife Juliann, Rev. Darrell H. Holmes, Sr. and wife Marcie L, Emanuel J. Holmes and wife Carlee; sisters, Ercell A. Wilson, Esther L. Holmes-Jenkins, Contrina Holmes, all of New Castle; step brother, Ben Tolvert of New Castle, stepsisters, Annie Williams and husband Lynn, of New Castle and Jennifer Tolvert of Pittsburgh, and two grandchildren, Isahia and Dravaun.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey L. and Lucy Christian and Raymond and Willie Holmes, several aunts and uncles, his nephew, Tawrence Wilson and his great niece, Londynn Christine Ott.

Visitation is Wednesday from 10am to 11am at Prevailing Word World Outreach Center followed by a Homegoing Service at the church at 11am conducted by Pastor Frank Christian and Pastor Samuel G. Holmes, Jr.

Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.
