Robert P. Williams Obituary

Robert P. Williams, of Doylestown, formerly a long-time resident of Warrington, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, in Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown Township. He was 91. He was the beloved husband of Ellen C. (Fawcett) Williams. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in June. Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, he was the only child of the late Perry and Helen Florence (Ross) Williams. Raised in Queens, New York, Robert would graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering from the former Brooklyn Technical College. Mr. Williams was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and retired as a Lt. Commander from the Naval Reserves after twenty years of service. He had been employed for over 30 years as an engineer at the former General Electric Corporation, Philadelphia. Mr. Williams was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Warrington. When his sons were children, Mr. Williams had been a Boy Scout leader. In more recent years, he had volunteered at Neshaminy Manor and served as a poll worker at his local voting site. He had also stayed actively involved with the Retired U. S. Navy Officers Association. An avid golfer and bowler, Bob had also enjoyed extensive travels with Ellen, including cruises and journeys to Alaska, Tahiti, Ireland, the Black Sea, the Irish Sea, and, quite literally worldwide, to all but one continent. Locally, they were members of the Buckaroos Square Dance Club, Warrington. In addition to his wife, Mr. Williams is survived by his four sons: George Williams, Robert D. Williams, David Williams and his wife, Mary Beth, and Clark Williams and his wife, Helen; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Williams. He was preceded in death by a son, James Williams, in 2019. His Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 1, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2131 Palomino Drive, Warrington, PA 18976, where a visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Williams’ name may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at the address above.
