Albert C. “Ab” Chamberlin, 97 of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in the Chambersburg Hospital. He was born December 29, 1919 in Newburg, PA. Albert was a son of the late Adam Reese and Mary Benita Fogelsonger Chamberlin. Ab was a self-employed home builder and continued woodworking craftsmanship well into his 90’s. He was a member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church for over 80 years where he rang the church bell more than 50 years. Ab was a past Sunday school secretary and treasurer and was the general contractor during the construction of the education building at church. He was a Staff Sergeant with the United States Army Air Corp. during World War II. Ab was a 1939 graduate of the former Shippensburg High School. Ab enjoyed woodworking, working outside, following baseball, going to auctions and visiting and shooting the breeze with friends in Shippensburg. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred L. Strohm Chamberlin; two brothers, Jay and Wendell Chamberlin; and three sisters, Vada Diehl, Mary Stimeling and Fredith Chamberlin. Albert is survived by one son, Dennis L. Chamberlin; two daughters, Nancy L. and Diane M. Chamberlin; two brothers, Glen and Lee Chamberlin; two sisters, Marie Goodhart and Janet Sandy; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Kimberley Wadlington officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in church.
