Betty Durf

Betty L. Durf, 82, of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Orrstown Personal Care Home. Born Thursday, December 6, 1934 in Newville, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur Joseph and Tresie Elizabeth Earley Piper. Betty was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Walnut Bottom. She formerly worked as a Bar Maid at the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Shippensburg. She loved building puzzles, playing cards, and camping. Betty is survived by her husband, George F. Durf, Sr. of Orrstown; one daughter, Betty Jean (husband Roy) Carbaugh; Newville, two sons, George F. (wife Freda) Durf, Jr., Shippensburg, and Ken D. (wife Michele) Durf, of Biglerville; four grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three great- great grandchildren; and one brother; Paul Piper, of Newville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, and one sister. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, with the Rev. Harold A. Bolyard, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and Friday, one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 217, Walnut Bottom, PA 17266.
