Emma Grace Atherton, age 91 went home to be with her Father God from the Orrstown Personal Care Home on Saturday, April 15th. She was born July 20, 1925 in Nyesville, PA. Emma was a daughter of the late Eber and Grace Hammond Wenger. She attended school in Nyesville and Quincy. Mrs. Atherton worked at the former Stanley Company. She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans over her lifetime for family and friends. Emma was a member of the Orrstown United Brethren Church. She and her husband, Donald E. Atherton were married on March 9, 1947. Together they enjoyed 50 years of marriage, until his passing on September 13, 1997. One son, Richard L. Atherton and three brothers and five sisters are also deceased. Emma is survived by three sons, Barry (Carolyn) Atherton of Orrstown, Dale Atherton of Warfordsburg and Donald Edward Atherton of New Franklin, eight grandchildren, Dorinda, Sherri, Rodney, Tina, Michael, Dawn, Eric, Autumn and thirteen great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hallee, Alex, Trista, Palmer, Kai, Megan, Tyler, Benjamin, Sawyer, Michaela, Devin and Chandelle. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens at 10 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth E. Wiliamson officiating. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg.
