Kenneth L. “Kenny” Alexander, 63 of Shippensburg, died Monday, November 15, 2010 in his home. Born October 23, 1947 in Carlisle; he was a son of the late Chester W. and Edna M. Brown Alexander. He was the owner and operator of Ken Alexander’s Hauling for over 26 years and prior to that he was a self employed dairy farmer for over 10 years. Kenny was a 1966 graduate of the Carlisle High School, a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 both in Shippensburg, Shippensburg Truck and Tractor Pullers, Cumberland Valley Tractor Pullers, Williams Grove Grease, Steam, and Rust Association. Kenny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who loved riding his Harley, camping, and his Palomino horse named Buns. He was an avid John Deere enthusiast, participating in farm stock tractor pulling for the past 30 years. One of his favorite quotes was “I’m a poor good looking trucker working to make 50 cents”. He is survived by his wife Sharon L. “Sherry” Porter Alexander whom he married April 15, 1972, a son Keith M. Alexander of Manor Care, Chambersburg, a daughter Melinda R. “Mindy” Beidel and her husband Dale of Shippensburg, a granddaughter Abby E. Beidel, two brothers; Ray E. Alexander and his wife Janet and Ronald L. Alexander and his wife Shirley all of Carlisle, and a sister Dorothy Throne and her husband Duane of Carlisle. Kenny was preceded in death by loved ones, Ronald L. and Iva Egolf. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 in the Newburg United Methodist Church, 203 N. High Street, Newburg at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Phyllis A. Hunter. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the church and one hour prior to the services Friday morning.
