Penny Myers Obituary

Penny Elizabeth Myers, age 58, of Shippensburg, passed away on Thursday afternoon, December 26, 2019, at home. Born October 3, 1961, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Merle H. and M. Jean Chamberlin Myers. She was a graduate of Big Spring High School and the Franklin County Vocational Technical School, from which she received her LPN license. She was previously employed as a nurse aide at the Church of God Home in Carlisle, and Green Ridge Village in Newville; and as an LPN at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle for more than 20 years. Although challenged by a debilitating health condition for many years, she loved life and met each day with a sense of humor and a quick wit that made people want to be in her presence and to be part of her life. Her generosity was well-known throughout the community. Her involvement in spearheading fund-raising projects for the Newburg-Hopewell Fire Company brought her great joy. The fire company awarded her both the President’s Award and the Ken Coleman Award in recognition of her hard work and outstanding dedication to service. Penny is survived by cousin and honorary sister Cindy L. Chamberlin of Shippensburg; 2 sisters, Linda M. of Las Vegas, Nevada and Christine A. Laughlin of Shippensburg; 2 brothers, Ronald L. (wife Tammy) and Gary L. both of Shippensburg; nephew RJ Laughlin of Newburg; nieces Erin E. Warner (husband Addison) of Fayetteville, Heather R. Ross of Waynesboro, and Tiffany R. Parker (husband Michael) of Paris, Arkansas, and countless other cousins, neighbors, and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant twin sister, Patricia Ann. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W King St, Shippensburg, with Pastor Dale H. Miller, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Middle Spring Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the Newburg-Hopewell Fire Company, 121 Lovers Lane, Newburg, PA 17240.
