Andrew P. “Andy” McLaughlin, 98, of Snow Shoe, passed away on March 16, 2017 at Centre Crest in Bellefonte. Born on January 16, 1919, in Snow Shoe, he was the son of the late William F. and Rose McGroarty McLaughlin. Andy was a 1936 graduate of Snow Shoe High School. He was self-employed in the family coal mines until retirement. He was a member of the Queen of Archangels Roman Catholic Parish in Snow Shoe. Andy was the unofficial historian for the Snow Shoe area. He lived in the same house his entire life. He loved to socialize with friends. Andy kept his yard in pristine condition, doing his own mowing and trimming right up to last summer. He enjoyed raking and burning leaves. Andy is survived by his nephew, Dennis McLaughlin and his wife, Patricia, of Snow Shoe and his best friend, Dennis Dugal also of Snow Shoe. Along with his parents, Andy was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence J., Michael E., and Francis W. and one sister, Elizabeth. Andy was the last of his generation. Following Andy’s wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be at the Centre County Memorial Park, date and time to be announced.
