Ruth Ellen (Witmer) Foust June 2, 1923 May 7, 2017 Ruth Ellen (Witmer) Foust passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017. She was born on June 2, 1923, in rural Bellefonte, the daughter of the late John E. and Lottie A. (Garner) Witmer. She was a graduate of the Bellefonte High School in 1942. She was employed by Sylvania in Mill Hall, Bellefonte AAA, the agriculture department at Penn State and the Penns Valley Livestock Auction at Old Fort for over 30 years. She married Donald G. Foust, of Centre Hall, on June 25, 1943. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2011. They celebrated 68 years of marriage. She was the mother of five children: Luanna Howard, of State College; Daniel Foust (Linda), of Weir, Texas, Paula Smith (James), of Spring Mills; Pamela Hollobaugh, of Centre Hall; Beth Hartzell, of Unionville. Ruth was the grandmother of 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great­ grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Faye Davy. She was preceded in death by three brothers; seven sisters; and two sons-in-law. Ruth was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the sewing group, and was a custodian with her husband for 17 years. Ruth enjoyed raising her family, her grandchildren and her great­ grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, cooking and baking, and camping. She enjoyed living life to the fullest. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at the Valley View Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, PA 16828 and Valley View Retirement Home, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004. Friends and family will be received at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 228 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall with the Rev. Becky Horn officiating.
