Sarah E. “Sally” Hommel, 74, of Milesburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at her home. Born on April 15, 1943, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Wellington R. and Elizabeth P. Alexander Lucas. On May 26, 1989, she married James T. Hommel who passed away in April 29, 1997 Sally was a 1961 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. She was of the protestant faith. She worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1998 after many years of service. Sally enjoyed making crafts. She was instrumental in starting the Crafts Fair at the Bald Eagle Area High School over the Thanksgiving holidays, with the proceeds going to SADD. She owned and operated her own ceramic shop, before her health declined. Sally liked to travel, going all over the world. She enjoyed watching football, the cooking shows, and Flea Market Flip on TV. She also liked to read and work in her yard. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sally is survived by her daughter, Judi-Ann Carlin and her husband, Raymond, of Unionville, step daughter, Pamela Osborne of Tyrone, step son, James M. Hommel “Jimbo” of Tyrone, and a very special friend that she considers her adopted daughter, Amy Houtz of Howard. Also surviving are her three grandchildren; Jay Hodges, Travis Robert Carlin and his companion, Jen, and Elizabeth-Ann Maney and her husband, Scott, two great grandchildren; Kaydence and Skylar, two sisters; Darla MacMillan of Wingate and Loretta Rose Grieb and her husband, Thomas, of Red Hook, NY, her K9 companion, Sadie, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents and husband, Sally was preceded in death by two sons; Robert L. Shutt, Jr. and Steven R. Shutt, one brother, Gerald Lucas, and one sister, Delores Williams. Visitation will on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 10am until 12 noon at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Melody Weston officiating. Burial will be at Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to MADD, 408 E. 4th St. #106, Bridgeport, PA 19405 Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe.
