Steven W. Brown, 60, of Spring Mills, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on November 30, 1958, in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of Donald H. Brown of Centre Hall and the late Mary Ann Garety Brown. In June 1991, in Centre Hall, he married Rebecca J. Dean, who survives at home. Steven was a 1976 graduate of Penns Valley High School. He was a member of the St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Centre Hall. Steven was a self-employed contractor. Steven enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, socializing, snowmobiling, hunting, and playing golf. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 537 in Centre Hall, the Centre Hall American Legion Post 779, Belles Springs Golf Club, and the Eastern Star. Steven enjoyed working on building projects and has done a lot of charity work throughout the area. He was a firm believer in giving back to the community and to those less fortunate. His favorite pastime was being with his grandchildren and watching his grandson play baseball. Steven is survived by his father, Donald and stepmother, Bonnie, of Centre Hall, wife, Rebecca, of Spring Mills, three daughters; Kimberly D. Wagner of Centre Hall, Deborah K. Auman of Centre Hall, and Tina M. Vancas and her husband, Kristopher, of Pleasant Gap, four grandchildren; Austin Auman, Alexis Franks, Ashley Wagner, and Peyton Vancas, and two great grandchildren; Briar Auman and Zailey Marderness. Also surviving Steven is his sister, Sharon Witmer and her husband, Mark, of Bellefonte, two stepbrothers, Wayne Shawver and his wife, Judy, of Aaronsburg, and Lloyd Shawver of Spring Mills, and one stepsister, Deborah Moyer and her husband, Mike, of Port Matilda. Along with his mother, Steven was preceded in death by a son, Phillip A. Auman and a brother, Douglas Brown. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 2-5pm with a Masonic Memorial service at 4:45pm at the St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Centre Hall. Memorial service will be on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 5pm at the church with Pastor Rebecca Horn officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will go to the Bellefonte Little League, PO Box 517, Bellefonte, PA 16823. Please put “In memory of Steven Brown” on the memo line.
