Courtney Davis

Courtney B. Davis, a Doylestown resident for the past 42 years, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus. He was 75. Courtney was the husband of Joyce S. Davis. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Paul A. Davis IV and the late Cecilia Davis. Courtney was proud to have served with the US Army Medical Corps, stationed at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. He received an honorable discharge in 1958. Courtney was a 1962 graduate of West Chester University with a degree in Physical Education. He then graduated in 1964 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Physical Therapy. For 12 years through the 1970’s and 80’s, Courtney was the head wrestling coach for Warrington Wrestling. He was able to win a championship, in at least one division, every year he coached. Courtney also enjoyed flying. He was certified to pilot eight different aircraft and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. In addition to his wife, Courtney is survived by 2 sons, Courtney B. Davis, II and his wife Kristin and Ed Davis and his wife Danielle, a daughter Mary G. Ivey and her husband Don and their mother Mary Grace Davis. He is also survived by 2 step-sons Charles Maun and his wife Shari and Philip Maun and his wife Kate, 13 grandchildren and a twin brother Paul A. Davis, V. Relatives and friends are invited to Courtney’s funeral mass 10:00 am Friday, September 20, 2013 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, 100 Broad St. Hilltown where the family will receive friends 9-9:45 am. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Courtney’s name may be made to the Bucks County SPCA, PO Box 277, Lahaska, Pa 18931.
