John R. Deal, a resident of Warwick and Jamison for the past eight years, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at his residence. He was 85. He was the husband of Edith (Tice) Deal. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Harry and Helen Deal. John was a distinguished veteran of World War II, having proudly served on the USS Enterprise. In addition to his wife, John is survived by four sons, John and his wife, Beverly, Stephen and his wife, Theresa, Michael and his wife, Kristen, and Lawrence and his wife, Karen. He also is survived by seven grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. John's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington.
