Magdalene Illg Obituary

Magdalene Illg, a resident of Warrington Township since 1964, passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at Pine Run Health Center. She was 82. She was the loving wife of Ernst A. Illg. The couple was married in Germany, Oct. 11, 1952. Born in Munich, Germany, Magdalene was the daughter of the late Karl and Anne Stegmaier. Magdalene emigrated from Germany with her husband Oct. 27, 1952, settling in Meriden, Conn. In 1954, the couple moved to the Brewerytown section of Philadelphia, and on May 6, 1956, enjoyed the birth of their son. In 1958, the Illg's bought their first meat manufacturing facility in Brewerytown. In February 1964, the Illg's relocated to Warrington Township and reopened Gross Meats as Ernst A. Illg Meats. Magdalene was a key employee with the company handling everything from customer and public relations to bookkeeping. In her free time, Magdalene enjoyed birds, flowers, cooking, and dancing. She was a member of several Bavarian Clubs, one being the Bayricher Volksfest Verein. In addition to her husband, Magdalene is survived by her son and his wife, Ernst K. and Pamela Illg; and her two grandsons, Kevin K. and Steven C. Illg. Magdalene's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 9, at Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held privately in Whitemarsh Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasantville United Church of Christ, 3424 Limekiln Pike, Chalfont, PA 18914.
