Mary Rose Hering of Manheim, Pa., formerly of Ottsville, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010. She was 98. She was the wife of the late Joseph Hering Sr., to whom she was married 46 years. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rose Ann Dench. She was a graduate of the Philadelphia Business College, and became an employee of the Bell Telephone Company. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, puzzles and traveling. Her greatest interest was her family. Mary enjoyed family gatherings and visits. Mary is survived by a son, Joseph Hering Jr. (Kathleen); grandchildren, William, Brian and Greg Tyson, Karen Olivas and Ranee Hering; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Tyson and a granddaughter, Michelle Tyler. Mary's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Church, 4050 Durham Road, Ottsville. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Shelly Funeral Home, Easton and Keller's Church roads, Plumsteadville. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John the Baptist Building Fund.
