Mary Ella Shanahan, a six-year resident of Warrington, formerly of Northeast Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at the home of her son in Warrington. She was 64. Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Mary Killian. In her later years, Mary's life focused on her grandchildren. She was the best grandmother ever. Mary is survived by a daughter, Kelly Ehrgott and her husband, Doug; and two sons, Gary Shanahan and his wife, Kristi, and Kyle Shanahan and his wife, Christi. She was the sister of Joseph, the late Bob Killian, Marge Numbers and Eileen Laffey. She also is survived by her former husband, James Shanahan; and her beloved 10 grandchildren. Mary's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at St. Joseph Church, Easton and County Line roads, Warrington. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Spina Bifida Association, 4590 McArthur Blvd., Suite 250, Washington DC 20007.
