Melanie Jozefiak

Melanie H. Jozefiak of Doylestown passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Doylestown Hospital. She fought a courageous 9-year battle with MS and a 1-year battle with cancer. She was 52. Melanie was the loving wife of Eric T. Jozefiak, mother Jessica and Adam, and daughter of Philip and Joan Heckler. Born in Lansdale, Melanie graduated from Souderton Area High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in education and a Masters of Science degree from Bloomsburg University. She was employed as a speech pathologist at Lehigh Valley Hospital and later at Abington Hospital of Lansdale. Melanie was committed to her family. She loved watching her daughter’s swim meets and her son’s baseball games. She enjoyed volunteering at many swimming events throughout the years. From when she was a little girl, Melanie loved music. She was in the high school band and also loved to sing. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and spending time with family at the beach. In addition to her husband, children, and parents, Melanie is survived by sisters Melissa Rogers (Richard), Marcy McCarter (Don), and Michelle Strenko (David). She is also survived by a sister in law Paula Trapani (Bruce), and nieces and nephews Nick and Jeff Trapani, Megan and Mathew McCarter, and Susannah and Phoebe Rogers. Relatives and friends are invited to Melanie’s funeral mass, 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 25, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5175 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 pm Tuesday at the Shelly Funeral Home, Easton and Keller’s Church roads, Plumsteadville and 10-10:45 am ,Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow mass in St. John Neumann Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 30 S 17th St Suite 800, Philadelphia, PA 19103 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
