Norma Grim Obituary

Norma Jean (Bricker) Grim died on November 20, 2017 at the age of 84. Norma was born in York, PA on December 2, 1932 to Minnie Louise and Lloyd Nelson Bricker. She shared her birthday with her dear sister, Nancy Eyster, also from York. Norma is survived by her daughters, Sharon Graham and her husband, Gregg; Elizabeth Kershaw and her husband, Jamie; and Jennifer Taylor and her husband, Calvin. Nana will be sadly missed by her six grandchildren, Michael Wayne Graham, Geremy Ryan Graham, Devon Clarkson Graham, Hannah Elizabeth Kershaw, Jared Martin Kershaw, and Trey Michael Taylor; and by her two great-grandchildren Lila Grace Graham and Keya Prem Graham. Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Wayne Martin Grim in 2014; and by her beloved son, Michael Wayne Grim in 1980. She is also survived by her sister, Ginny Patterson, and well as many nieces and nephews. Norma graduated from William Penn High School in 1950. She worked at W.S. Owen Insurance Agency in York for two years before marrying Wayne on August 30, 1952. They moved to Philadelphia while Wayne was in pharmacy school and Norma worked at Booth, Potter, and Seal Insurance Agency. In 1956, they moved to Ann Arbor where Wayne attended the University of Michigan and Norma was the secretary to the Registrar for three years. After Wayne graduated, they moved back to Pennsylvania and settled in Chalfont. Their family was on the way and from this time on, Norma was fortunate to be a stay-at-home Mom. As her family grew, so did Norma’s interests and activities. She volunteered tirelessly at her children’s schools making everything from Christmas tree cookies to school play costumes. Norma was the driving force behind many neighborhood, community, and social clubs and organizations over the years. She was an avid crafter who could take an ordinary design and make it extraordinary. Norma took an interest in quilting and created beautiful heirlooms for her daughters and grandchildren. She ran many craft bazaars and events at the family’s church and taught several craft classes. Norma was the number one fan at her children’s sporting events as the years passed and she continued that tradition as her grandchildren began their various exploits. Norma’s love of life was evident to all and her kind heart and gentle generous spirit will be remembered by many. Norma’s funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Rd, Warrington, PA 18976. The family will greet friends and family from 2:00 until the time of service. We will celebrate Norma’s life with some shared stories and memories from attendees. All are invited to a gathering at the close of the service at 4:00 at Villa Barolo, just down the street at 1373 Easton Rd. Norma’s interment in Mount Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mt Rose Ave, York, PA 17403, will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 1.
