William Charles Kohnle, Jr., of Warrington, died Sunday, January 3, 2016. He was 94. He was the loving husband of the late Yvonne Rosa (Permeke).

Born in Philadelphia on April 15, 1921, Bill was a son of the late William C. Kohnle, Sr. and Lillie Julia (Setzer). He grew up in Philadelphia and Abington Township moving to Warrington in 1963 and later to Ann’s Choice, Warminster in 2013.

Bill was a 1938 graduate of Abington High School and attended Drexel Institute of Technology, graduating in 1954. He became a draftsman at the Cramp Shipbuilding Co. and joined the US Coast Guard Temp. Reserve.

Bill taught Mechanical Design and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning at the Spring Garden Institute for 9 years. He joined the Engineering Department at Merck, Sharp and Dohme holding positions of Asst. Plant Engineer and Senior Facilities Engineer, retiring in 1983. He held a PA Registered Professional Engineers License. During his career he was a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Institute of Plant Engineers.

In Warrington, Bill was active with the Palomino Farms Civic Assoc. and the Warrington Twp. Vol. Fire Company. He, along with his wife, were active in the E.P.’s of St. Robert Bellarmine Church. He was also a member of the Southampton Radiant Star Lodge.

Bill is survived by a son Charles W. Kohnle and his wife Cookie of Monroe, NC and a daughter, Christine Y. Rose and her husband Michael of Horsham, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, W. Corey Kohnle (Shannon), Christian S. Kohnle (Misty), Katherine A. Rose (Daniel) and Michael P. Rose (Angela) and 2 great grandchildren, Payton D. Kohnle and Mia E. Rose. Bill was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Ruth Lewis.

Relatives and friends are invited to Bill’s funeral service 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington, where the family will receive friends after 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be held privately.
