<p>Betty Dolores Lehr, 90, a resident of Phoebe Berks Village, formerly of Spring Township, died July 10th. 2017 in Phoebe Berks. Betty was the wife of the late John Malcolm Lehr.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in Altoona, PA on March 28, 1927 to the late Catherine D ( Warner) and Robert O. Long. She graduated from Altoona High School in 1945, worked for Bell Telephone and married June 19, 1948 and settled in Reading, later Wyomissing Hills and Wilshire, PA. Betty was a census recorder for many years and a homemaker.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her four children: Carol Ann (D. Johnnie) Little, of Kennett Square, PA; Susan M. (Jimmie L) Fidler of West Lawn; Marybeth (Joseph) Butchko of Oley and John (Patricia) Lehr of Sinking Spring, and predeceased by infant son Joseph. Grandchildren: Marc Fidler, Nicholas Little, Bo ( Mike) Miccike, Molly ( Mike) McKinney, Luke (Cali) Butchko, Michael (Morgen) Lehr and Jordan (Courtney) Lehr. Also step grandchildren Dallas Little and Kathy (Larry) McConnell. Great Grandchildren: Taylor and Cassidy Royer, Sierra McConnell, Carter Little, Natalie and Cameron Wegman, Chase McKinney, Braxton and Capri Mae Butchko, and Jane and Elizabeth ( Betty) Lehr. She was predeceased by brother Robert G. (Alice) Long and has six nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sinking Spring and taught Sunday School at Advent Lutheran Church (West Lawn) and St. John’s Lutheran Church (Sinking Spring) for many years. She was a member of the Green Valley CC Ladies Auxiliary and served on many committees at Phoebe Berks. She volunteered for many civic organizations. While at Phoebe she made many friends, especially loving companions Ann Weir and John Hollinger.</p><p><br></p><p>Betty was known for her baking, sewing, writing and poems. She lifted many spirits. She enjoyed traveling, WWII reunions, and crossword puzzles. She was happiest with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and granddogs. Her parting words were: Be kind to one another.</p><p><br></p><p>A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday July 29th at 10:30 a.m. in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 4125 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. An additional memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in Phoebe Berks Village, 1 Reading Dr, Wernersville, PA 19565. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church (Sunday School) at the above address. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc.,West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
