GLADYS USHER

Bristol - Gladys Lillian Usher, 89, of Bristol, died Sunday, September 22, 2019 at her sister’s home in Warwick. She was born in Fall River, Ma. a daughter of the late Richard H. and Lillian (Humes) Usher. Gladys was an Elementary School Teacher for the Town of Bristol for over 35 years, before retiring. She was a Bristol resident for most of her life. She was a former Treasurer for the Bristol County Teachers Credit Union. Gladys was a member of the First Congregational Church, where she was very active in her church, she enjoyed travelling. Miss Usher was one of the founders of the Bristol Art Museum. She was an avid reader, and she also enjoyed knitting. She is survived by her brothers Richard and his wife Elizabeth Usher of Bristol, David and his wife Elizabeth Usher of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and her sister Priscilla Usher of Warwick. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held Friday September 27, 2019 at 11:00am in the First Congregational Church, 300 High Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, 1081 Hope Street,Bristol. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
