Nancy Phelan

Nancy L. (Nurse) Phelan, 91, of Quannacut Road, Westerly, formerly of Weekapaug RI, and Falmouth, MA, passed away at Apple Rehab Clipper on Friday, April 14, 2017. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Phelan, Sr. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Clara Nurse. Nancy was active in numerous church, civic and social groups, many of which she served as board member or chairman. As a member of garden clubs she shared her life long love of gardening in schools and nursing homes alike. She was a member of the women of the church at St. Barnabas in Falmouth, and was a ready volunteer for many of the charitable causes of the church. She was also a founding member and past president of 'Capers' which organized trips and activities for seniors. When she wasn't helping others, she enjoyed tennis, sailing and painting. She truly had a fully lived life. She is survived by her son Robert “Chip” Phelan of Westerly; her daughter Bette Phelan of Waikoloa, HI; a sister Betty Springle of Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by brothers Richard, Edward and Robert. Visiting hours are omitted. Funeral service and burial will be private.
