Theodore Mathieu

Theodore “Ted” Mathieu, Sr., 76, beloved husband of Donna (Mazzella) Mathieu of North Stonington, passed away at Apple Rehab Mystic on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Born in Mystic, he was a son of the late Theodore and Iona Mathieu. Ted worked as a Welding Foreman for Amtrak for many years. He was a former member of the Groton Elks and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and gardening. Most important to him was spending time with his family. Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Glen T. Mathieu of N. Stonington, Theodore “Ted” Mathieu, Jr. of Niantic and Laurie Matney of Montville. He also leaves two brothers, Ronald Mathieu of East Lyme and William Mathieu of California; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Iona Mathieu, Jo-Ann Perrino, Lu-Ann Dugas. A Celebration of Life will take place at 10 Surrey Lane, North Stonington, CT on Sunday, April 23rd from 12pm to 5pm. A service will be held at 3pm. Relatives and friends are invited. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly is in charge of the arrangements.
