Robert Casey Providence, Rhode Island Obituary

Robert Casey

Robert M. “Bob” Casey, CNA, 62, of Woonsocket, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on July 6th. He was the loving husband of Donna Easterbrooks Casey, with whom, together, they enjoyed many years of happiness, contentment, and good times. He was a beloved son of Robert and Margaret (White) Casey to whom he was born on August 26, 1956; a dear brother to Colleen Burd in Ohio, Roy Casey in Florida, and the late Ronald Casey; and a cherished uncle to Hannah Burd of Ohio and Ron Casey of Providence. He was a special friend and co-worker to many and, together with Donna, shared a particular fondness for their long-time feline companion, Fat Cat, until his passing at the ripe old age of 21! Bob will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. Prior to his somewhat early retirement due to health issues, Bob was proud to serve as a caring and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant for 15 years at Oakland Grove Health Center in Woonsocket where he had an affinity for memory care patients, endearing himself to several and earning the trust and respect of their families. Previous to his CNA career, Bob worked in the bottling industry for several years at the former Foster-Forbes Company in Milford, MA, where he rose to the position of Production Supervisor. While his priorities were family and work, Bob found time to enjoy gardening, reading, and traveling – especially annual trips to Florida with Donna. He was an accomplished quilter and a consummate chef, always experimenting with exotic and ethnic recipes gleaned from a variety of cooking shows of which he was an avid viewer. Bob had also been a dedicated volunteer at the House of Compassion in Cumberland for a period of time shortly after its founding. Although his life was cut short, he achieved most of his goals, and his accomplishments and caring spirit will survive and become his legacy. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 17th,with visitation beginning at 10:00am in the Berarducci Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, 185 Spring Street, Woonsocket, followed by a prayer and committal service at 12:00 noon. Burial, at a later date, will be strictly private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s name to the Oakland Grove Activities Fund, Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary (in honor of Fat Cat), or a charity of one’s choosing would be appreciated.
