Blacksburg -- Alfred Anthony "Tony" Hatfield, 72, of 116 North Burnt Chimney Road, passed away Sunday, February 9th, 2014, at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Milton, WV, he was married to Betty Jean Nettles Hatfield and was the son of the late Alfred Hatfield and Mary Audrey Austin Hatfield. He retired as a truck driver and was a member of Shelby Missionary Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hatfield is survived by a son, Dwayne Hatfield, of Belmont, NC; a daughter, Tammy Idol, of Mint Hill, NC; a brother, Gary Hatfield, of Milton, WV; a sister, Yvonne Terry, of Milton, WV; and three grandchildren, Shela Harris, Dylan Harris, and Dustin Hatfield. Mr. Hatfield was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Troy Hatfield. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 15th, 2014, from 11:00 am -1:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. David Black officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 North Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340.. The family will be at the residence.
