Arnold Byars Obituary

Gaffney -- Arnold Floyd Byars, 73, of 4237 Union Hwy, passed away Sunday, May 5th, 2013, at his home. Born in Blacksburg, Mr. Byars was the widower of Nancy Pridmore Byars and the son of the late Cossie Cort and Thruly Jennie Janelle White Byars. Mr. Byars was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Gaffney post of the VFW, where he formerly served as Secretary. He retired as an electrician, was a Mason, and was a member of Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church. Mr. Byars is survived by one daughter, Heidi Collins, of Gaffney; one sister, Vera Byars, of Blacksburg; one granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Collins; and his beloved cat, Blondie. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 7th, 2013, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at Berry Memorial Baptist Church. Memorial services will immediately follow at 3:00pm at Berry Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Miller officiating. Memorials may be made to VFW Post 3447, PO Box 746, Gaffney, SC 29342 or to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 North Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340. The family would like to thank his caregiver, Saphees Palmer, and everyone at Hospice Care of South Carolina for their help in caring for Mr. Byars. The family will be at the residence.
