Benita Scruggs

Gaffney -- Benita Darlene Strickland Scruggs, 57, of 3033 Union Highway, passed away Thursday, April 10th, 2014, at Novant Health Gaffney Medical Center. Born in Blacksburg, she was the wife of David Lee Scruggs and the daughter of Jennie Irene Martin Moss and the late Gene Richards. Mrs. Scruggs retired as a spinner and was a member of First Salvation of the Living God. In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Scruggs is survived by two daughters, Ellie Mae Blanton and husband, Donald, of Grover, NC and Beverly Irene Strickland of Wyoming, MI; one step-son, Danny Lee Scruggs of Gaffney; two brothers, Ricky Richards of Gaffney and Eddie Richards of Blacksburg; two sisters, Gloria Hambright of Blacksburg and Tammy Martinez of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Tabetha Elaine Blanton, Cynthia Allison Blanton, and Robert Glenn Blanton, all of Grover, Ireland Scruggs and Easton Scruggs, both of Gaffney. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Gwendolyn Hall. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 14th, 2014, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 15th, at 11:00 am at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Ricky Pridmore, Rev. Clint Oglesby, and Rev. David Murray officiating.
