Betty Carroll

Gaffney -- Betty Lou Carroll, 84, of 1434 N. Limestone Street, but formerly of Smyrna, passed away Thursday, April 19th, 2012, at the Peachtree Centre. Born in Shelby, Mrs. Carroll was the widow of James Edward Carroll and the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Stamey Rippy. Mrs. Carroll retired from textiles and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. Mrs. Carroll is survived by two sons, Gary Carroll of Smyrna and Mike Carroll and wife, Susie, of Smyrna; three daughters, Wanda Morris of Blacksburg, Betty Cobb and husband, Carl, of Blacksburg, and Mary Maxwell and husband, Ray, of Shelby; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Jarret, and two sisters, Irene Wright and Lillian Parnell. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 21st, 2012, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 22th, at 3:00pm at Smyrna Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Gilfillan, Rev. Barry Philbeck, and Rev. Todd Justice officiating. Interment will follow at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gloryland Baptist Church, 2316 Legion Road, Smyrna, SC 29743. The family will be at Wanda Morris' residence, 103 Alexander Road, Blacksburg.
