Blacksburg -- Billy Joe White, 54, of 1381 Ninety-Nine Island Road, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, Mr. White was the son of the late Winfred Leroy White and Edna McDaniel White Manning of the home. Mr. White worked in textiles and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his mother, Mr. White is survived by a daughter, Angela White Mullinax of Blacksburg; his step-father, Gene Manning of the home; two brothers, Raymond Eugene (Ray) White of Aurora, CO and Leroy White of Blacksburg; a sister, Kathy Ann White Nelms of Blacksburg; and two grandsons, Christopher Mullinax and Ray Walters of Blacksburg. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Nazareth Baptist Church at 2 with Rev. James Holder and Rev. Harold Dean Painter officiating. interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. White will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the residence.
