Blacksburg -- Carolyn Hollifield Goodson, 77, of 349 Henson Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, Mrs. Goodson was the wife of Jack Goodson of the home and the daughter of the late D.H. and Ruth Lavender Hollifield. She was a retired medication aid for a nursing home and was a member of the Blacksburg Church of God. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Goodson is survived by a son, Jeff Smith and wife, Terri, of Charlotte; five daughters, Sherry Martin and husband, Lee, of Bradenton, FL, Susan Wood of Blacksburg, Donna Henson and husband, Jimmy, of Blacksburg, Cindy Crocker and husband, Skipper, of Kenly, NC, and Misty Elliott and husband, Clint, of Gastonia; fourteen grandchildren, Brett and Courtney Smith, Angie and Kenny Goodson, Sharon White, Gary Crasten, Jodi Pennington, Niki Springsteen, Kim Ivey, James Henson, Lane and Cheyenne Crocker, Taylor and Megan Elliott; sixteen great-grandchildren, Tyler Murray, Corey and Chance White, Summer Creek, Carol Cerney, Chelsey Crasten, John Gary II, Brison Hughey, Leila Pennington, James Ham, Wyatt Ivey, Cheyene and Derrick Henson, Laini Henson, Logan Estes, and Cheltsey Millen; a great-great-granddaughter, Callie Cerney; and two sisters, Brenda Yow of Sarasota, FL and Joan Green of Blacksburg. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goodson was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 until 8:30 at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 2 at the Blacksburg Church of God, with Rev. James Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Frederick Memorial Gardens. Skipper Crocker, Lane Crocker, James Henson, Clint Elliott, Gary Crasten, and Kenny Goodson will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Goodson will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service.
