Carolyn Sapough Obituary

Blacksburg -- Carolyn Bowman Sapough, 81, of 306 South Charleston Street, passed away Thursday, August 9th, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Shelby, Mrs. Sapough was the widow of Roy Sapough and the daughter of the late Herman Earl "Bud" Wise and Sarah Chapman Wise. She retired from the Timken Company and was a member of Gaffney Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Sapough was an avid fan of all things NASCAR, with her favorite driver being Dale, Jr. Mrs. Sapough was a beloved mother to her four children, Deborah Blanton and friend, Charles Alvin Harris, of Shelby, Dennis Bowman and wife, Sheila, of Blacksburg, Larry Bowman and wife, Wanda, of Blacksburg, and Kevin Bowman and wife, Kim, of Gaffney; she was a beloved grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Amy Grigg Newton of Polkville, NC, Nick Perry and wife, Libby, of Greer, Jason Bowman of Savannah, GA, Jeremy Bowman of Blacksburg, Ryan Bowman of Charleston, Heather Orr and husband, Ronnie, of Gaffney, and Craig Bowman of Blacksburg; and her four great-grandchildren, Max Grigg Laflamme, Gus Grigg Laflamme, and Austin and Savanah Orr. Last, but not least, she is survived by her dog and faithful companion, Jackson. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sapough was preceded in death by a son, Phillip James Bowman, a granddaughter, Kesley Leann Bowman, and her first husband, Harry Bowman, to whom she was married for 38 years. The family will receive friends Monday, August 13th, 2012, from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Billy Vanderford, Ms. Amy Grigg, and Mr. Ryan Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Ryan Bowman, Donnie Newton, Jeremy Bowman, Nick Perry, and Ronnie Orr will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
