Blacksburg -- Carrine Houser Bivens, 77, of 973 Antioch Road, passed away Wednesday, December 21st, 2011, at her residence. Born in Blacksburg, Mrs. Bivens was the widow of Paul Burton Bivens and the daughter of the late Henry Clayborn and Allie Mae Wylie Houser. Mrs. Bivens retired from working in textiles and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mrs. Bivens is survived by a son, David Wayne Bivens, of Blacksburg; a daughter, Reba Bivens Byars, of Blacksburg; two brothers, Herbert Houser and wife, Jean, and Willie Houser, all of Blacksburg; a sister, Shirley Canoutas; and two grandchildren, Allie Michelle Bivens of Elk Park, NC and Kyle Aaron Byars of Blacksburg. The family will receive friends Friday, December 23rd, 2011, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 26th, at 2:00pm at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Craig and Rev. Paul Sorrells officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
