Mr. Charles Russell Monk, Sr., 79, of 220 Gloria Lane Gaffney, passed away Friday, January 9th, 2009 at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, FL.
Born in Ojus, FL, Mr. Monk was the husband of Arzelia Sheffield Monk and the son of the late John Gordon and Mamie Agnus (Carne) Monk.
Mr. Monk worked as a mechanic supervisor for Anchorage School District, was of the Baptist faith, and served in the U.S. Navy in WW II.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Monk is survived by a daughter, Shunnie A. Bauser and husband, Robert, of Avonlake, OH; three sons Charles R. Monk Jr. and wife, Cynthia, of Charlotte, NC, David B. Monk and wife, Susan, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three step-sons, and Bill D. Beekman and wife, Shirley, of Gaffney, Mike Beekman of Atlanta, and Ron Beekman and wife, Linda, of Atlanta; a sister-in-law, Ometa Sheffield of Ft. Myers, FL; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Monk was preceded in death by a step-son, Charles Raymond Beekman.
No services have been scheduled for Mr. Monk.
The family will be at their respective homes.
