Blacksburg -- Clemoth Wardell (Joe) Rippy, 87, of 562 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, passed away Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 at his residence. Born in Blacksburg, Mr. Rippy was the husband of Eula Mae Allison Rippy of the home and the son of the late Thomas Kendrick Rippy and Agusta Ann Blackwell Rippy. He worked as a pipe fitter for Duke Energy and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Rippy is survived by his wife Eula Mae Allison Rippy; one son, Terry Kendrick Rippy of Blacksburg, SC; two daughters, Vicki Lynn Durney of Wentzville, MO, Janice Dale Ekman of Charlotte, NC; 9 grandchildren, Rebecca Lee Adams of Spartanburg, SC, Summer Denise Rippy of Charlotte, NC, Baron Lain Adams of Chesterfield, SC, Savannah Kendrick Rippy, Agusta Ann Rippy, Addie McMillan Rippy all of Blacksburg, SC, Jeremy Ekman of West Concord, MN, Shelly Hulbert of Wentzville, MO, and Emilee Beck of Charlotte, NC; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ernest Rippy, Forest Rippy, and Floyd Rippy and sisters, Pearl Batchler, Delia Gunn, Essie Thompson, and Bernola Loflin. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 15th, 2012 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 16th, at 4:00pm at Clingman Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joseph Clayton and Rev. Grady Gregory officiating. The family will be at the residence.
