Colleen Broom

Gaffney -- Colleen Broom, 80, of 1542 Corinth Road, passed away Wednesday, November 30th, 2011, at her residence.She was formerly of 114 Brull St. Blacksburg. Born in Cherokee Falls, Mrs. Broom was the widow of Edward Rochelle Broom and the daughter of the late Robert and Eunice Wisher Owens. She retired from textiles and was of the Holiness faith. Mrs. Broom is survived by five daughters, Doris Varner, Brenda Jacobs, and Kathy B. Stapleton, all of Blacksburg, Dorothy B. Mullinax of the home, and Gloria Humphries of Blacksburg; a brother, David Owens, of Forest City, NC; a sister, Mary Maggie Kisner, of Forest City, NC; three grandchildren raised in the home, Brandy B. Davis of Gaffney, Melissa Broome, and April Broom, both of Blacksburg; five other grandchildren, Missy Dixon, Dana Scruggs, and Latanya Pierce, all of Blacksburg, Noah Jacobs of Spartanburg, and Allen Mullinax of Gaffney also 19 Great Grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Broom was preceded in death by two sons, Edward R. Broome Jr, and Bobby Joe Broom; two brothers, Ernest and Rosco Owens; a grandson, Tamarlane Edward Peterson; and a great-grandson, Landon Mullinax. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 4th, at 3:00pm at Christian Fellowship Church with Rev. Willie Lanier, Rev. William Blanton, and Rev. Lucky Earls officiating.
