Dee Larkin

Blacksburg, SC- Dee Ann Larkin, of 751 Rock House Road, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the age of 68. Mrs. Larkin is preceded in death by her mother and father, Pauline and Proctor Phillips. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Larry Larkin. Dee and is lovingly remembered by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kelley and Tommy Kennedy of Blacksburg, SC; Traci and Chip Leavine of Tallahassee, Fl; Heather and Chuck Wilson of Kings Mountain, NC; grandchildren Jordan Miles Moore, Austin Larkin Gilbert, Hunter Christian Leavine, Emily Ann Larkin Gilbert, Raleigh Jackson Kennedy and two great-grandchildren Lauren and Scarlett Moore. Mrs. Larkin was born in Norris, Illinois and relocated over the years to Haven, Kansas; Lakeland, Florida; Glengormley, Northern Ireland; Nashville, Tennessee; Tucson, Arizona and in 1994 settled in Blacksburg, South Carolina. She started her career in veterinary medicine in Lakeland, Florida and continued in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1999 she served as the president of the Shelby, NC Chapter of the American Kennel Club Association. Mrs. Larkin was the owner of Claddagh Kennels where she bred, trained, professionally showed and judged Rottweilers and was an active member of Therapy Dogs International where she worked with children and the elderly. She was also an active member of the Antioch Volunteer Fire Department where she served as their treasurer. The visitation will be held at Gordon Mortuary in Blacksburg, SC on Thursday, June 27 from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Blacksburg High School Band Booster Club 210 W.
