Blacksburg -- Dennis Franklin Dawson, 54, of 110 Shell Road, passed away Saturday, January 1st, 2011 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. Born in Fayetteville, NC, Mr. Dawson was the husband of Ellen Lenore Spates Dawson of the home and the son of Henry Franklin Dawson of Blacksburg and the late Betty Jean Muncy Dawson. Mr. Dawson was a veteran of the United States Army and was a cashier at a gas station. In addition to his wife and father, Mr. Dawson is survived by two daughters, Misty Dawson and fiance, Johnatha Hellams, of Greenville and Michelle Denise Dawson of Blacksburg; two sons, Tony Franklin Dawson of Gaffney and David Franklin Flynn of Winston-Salem, NC; a sister, Diane Dawson Combs of Blacksburg; and 11 grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 6, 2010, from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM at Gordon Mortuary. The family will be at their respective homes.
