Gaffney -- Donald Lee McDowell, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 27th, 2018. Born in Brevard, NC, he was the husband of Wilma Talley McDowell and the son of the late Claude McDowell and Daisy Epson McDowell. Mr. McDowell retired as a Mechanic and was a member of Church of God of Prophecy. In addition to his wife, Mr. McDowell is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Eubanks (John) and Brenda Armstrong (Alan); two sisters, Barbara Blackmon and Ellon Bridges; three grandchildren, Nickole Maronge, Christopher Jackson, and Christy Armstrong; and three great-grandchildren, Koen Jackson, Abigail Maronge, and John Maronge. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Claude McDowell, Gene McDowell, and Raymond McDowell, and his sisters, Eula Bowen and Dorothy McDowell. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 29th, 2018, from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney, 211 E. Frederick Street, Gaffney, SC 29340. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Barry Sutton and Rev. Phil Smith officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, July 31at 10:00 am at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC. The family will be at the residence. The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.
